Americas First Federal Credit Union is Hiring an Assistant Branch Manager - Hueytown Near Hueytown, AL

Role: To direct and coordinate and aid the Branch Manager in ensuring the branch meets organizational, financial, operational, service, and growth plans.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Assists Branch Manager by monitoring all branch activities to ensure they are in compliance with established Credit Union policies and procedures. In the absence of the branch manager, the assistant branch manager assumes the primary level of authority in the branch.
  • Assists and helps monitor new personnel coaching and cross training within the branch.
  • Assists Branch Manager with timecard approval, daily/monthly branch audits, daily loan/new account work review.
  • Assists Branch Manager in developing & maintaining business partners, scheduling community events and community involvement.
  • Serves as a resource to staff assisting with daily operational functions/procedures, knowledge about products/services, policies and procedures.
  • Underwrites consumer loans, originates & closes real estate loans, reviews and approves underwriting decisions of subordinate personnel.
  • Assists subordinate personnel in balancing daily transactions; examine, evaluate, and process loan applications in absence of subordinate personnel.
  • Resolves account-related concerns with members.
  • Evaluates all branch activities to ensure they are in compliance with established Credit Union policies, procedures, and objectives; recommends changes to manager.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

  • Maintain a cohesive, highly trained, motivated staff sufficient to meet daily branch demands.
  • Provide informed, professional and accurate service and support to all members and associates.
  • Assists Branch Manager to maintain or exceed annual budgeted branch operating and growth plan while maintaining or improving the financial stability of the branch.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of the branch and make specific recommendations to the Branch Manager for improvements to personnel, facilities, products, pricing, policies, and processes.
  • Meet or exceed the established branch goals each month and ensure subordinates achieve their individual goals.
  • Promote a sales culture within the branch by example. Coach and develop employees to identify cross sales opportunities.
  • Work with Branch Manager to ensure recovery of all critical branch functions for business contingency within recovery times set by business constraints or disaster recovery plan.
  • Note observations of employee performance. Give and receive feedback from employees on an ongoing basis.
  • Effective cross-training throughout the branch.
  • May serve on various committees or as a resource for other committees or departments as needed.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: One year to three years of similar or related experience.

Education: (1) A two year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program such as LAUNCH.

Interpersonal Skills: Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills

  • Able to operate a 10-key calculator and computer keyboard.
  • Work between branch locations as needed.

Physical Requirements: Light lifting required.
