Job Description

As a Junior Naval Architect you will:

  • Work within the Maritime Lifecycle Readiness Group to provide on-site support.

A week in the life of a Junior Naval Architect:

  • Assist in the design, development and evaluation of the operation of marine vessels
  • Support reviewing third party design modifications and improvements to mechanical systems and components
  • Assist with naval architecture analysis related to vessels
  • Help with the stability analyses of ships
  • Assist with the design complete hull and superstructure according to specifications and test data
  • Help the Senior Naval Architect to oversee construction and testing of prototype in model basin
  • Evaluate performance of craft during dock and sea trials to determine design changes

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. AMERICAN SYSTEMS provides for the welfare of its employees and their dependents through a comprehensive benefits program by offering healthcare benefits, paid leave, retirement plans (including ESOP and 401k), insurance programs, and education and training assistance.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture or Ocean Engineering and 0 - 1 years of relevant experience
  • Previous experience with progressive ship structural analysis
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
