Job Description

WANTED: A mission-driven professional with 10 years of combined Programmatic and Engineering experience and a Secret clearance to become our next Deputy Program Manager / Fleet Readiness Engineer for PEO IWS in Washington, DC. Candidate will support various PEO IWS program offices.

As a Deputy Program Manager/ Fleet Readiness Engineer you will:

A week in the life of a Senior Fleet Readiness Engineer / Deputy Program Manager, you will:

  • Provide daily IWS Fleet Readiness and IPT updates to the PEO Ships IWS Captain
  • Provide IWS, IPT and Fleet Readiness status presentations to Flag Level staff.
  • Provide daily functions as it relates to Surface Fleet readiness, sustainment, and lifecycle management. the PEO Ships IWS Captain
  • Coordinate efforts and projects across the IWS 1F Enterprise attending all meetings in which Captain participates, tracks actions coming out of those meetings, and insures reports and other presentations are prepared in a timely manner. This includes preparing replies to Congressional inquiries.
  • Provide AEGIS Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to Program Offices
  • Provide IPT Leadership support for P2P to Program Offices
  • Provide IWS1F response input from not only internal program managers but also from the Warfare Centers, Navy Supply HQ, and the OEM’s 
  • Assess ships and systems, act upon fleet readiness issues, and support the Surface Fleet with programmatic, logistical, technical, and engineering services and products.
  • Support Total Ships Readiness Assessment (TSRA) as it relates to hull, mechanical, electrical (HM&E), combat systems (C/S), command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C5I) systems, support equipment, and logistics condition.
  • Provide systems engineering support for the maintenance and upgrade of war fighting capabilities.
  • Provide analysis of planned advanced technology enhancements for combat systems to meet emerging threats.
  • Provide long-range planning for combat system capabilities and milestones to ensure all requirements are included, or planned to be included, in proposed baselines.
  • Evaluate technical briefs and all applicable change documents to include but not limited to Ship Change Documents (SCDs), Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Requests for Deviation or Waivers, Advance Change Study Notices (ACSNs), and Notice of Revisions. Enter and maintain the information in the appropriate government databases.
  • Provide support in planning, monitoring, and assessing warfare mission area performance of in-service ships including modifications, lifetime support, ship integration and test, combat systems alignment, and performance assessment of in-service system elements. This support shall include efforts from Fleet Introduction to Phase Out.
  • Support and help facilitate System Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR) to include Systems Requirements Review (SRR), System Design Review (SDR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), In-Process Reviews (IPR) and the drafting and staffing of Systems Engineering Plans (SEP), model-based systems engineering (MBSE) artifacts, and other major acquisition milestone support for technical review processes.

Job Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical field, this could include, but is not limited to: computer science, computer engineering, engineering, engineering management, information science, information systems management, information technology, mathematics, operations research, statistics, technology management and system engineering,
  • Ten (10) years of relevant engineering experience, this could include, but is not limited to experience in DoD systems architectures, design, development, and test and evaluation; experience in concept definition, requirements definition and initial and detailed system design activities.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary/hourly range for this position is $142,500 – 150,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
