DEPARTMENT: Actuarial

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Analyze, quantify, and price assumed reinsurance contracts, including property and casualty excess of loss, catastrophe excess of loss, and property and casualty proportional reinsurance. The position will work with other actuaries, cat modelers, and underwriters

REPORTS TO: Actuary & Broker Assumed Portfolio Manager

LOCATION: Schaumburg, Illinois (Hybrid)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct reinsurance treaty pricing analysis using actuarial and catastrophe models
  • Collect, analyze, and validate statistical data and effectively communicate on data issues
  • Participate in and contribute to pricing model development and model parameterization
  • Prepare accurate summarized actuarial exhibits for internal customers

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or statistics or a related degree
  • Minimum of two CAS exams passed and active participation toward achievement of CAS designation

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • At least two years of experience in an actuarial role
  • Strong mathematical, statistical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work on tasks independently and be able to collaborate in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

  • Background in reinsurance, large account pricing, and use of catastrophe models
  • Strong knowledge of Excel VBA, R, and SQL is a plus

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to work in our Schaumburg, Illinois, headquarters at least three days each week and as needed

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $120,000 annually. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for an annual productivity bonus.
