We are seeking a Director of Communications to support our organization throughout the United States. Prior veterinary experience is not required, but a love for animals is preferred! 
This position requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong command of the English language. This position is a full-time in office position reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources. Occasional travel (up to 25%) is required. Time management skills and the ability to communicate effectively across departments in a remote setting is paramount.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Communications will create a cohesive communications strategy, projecting a positive company image to internal stakeholders as well as understanding the importance of timing in setting messages.
Essential Job Functions 
  • Develop and implement effective employee communication strategies that align with organizational goals and values.
  • Craft engaging content for internal channels, including newsletters, intranet, and company-wide announcements.
  • Lead initiatives to promote transparent and open communication within the organization.
  • Collaborate with HR and leadership to ensure consistent messaging related to company policies, updates, and initiatives.
  • Plan and execute employee engagement programs to boost morale and create a positive workplace environment.
  • Manage internal events and communications related to organizational milestones, achievements, and changes.
  • Analyze and measure the effectiveness of employee communication initiatives, adjusting strategies for optimal impact.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and leadership, addressing concerns and facilitating constructive dialogue.
  • Provide guidance on internal branding and ensure alignment with company values.
  • Mentor and support the internal communications team, fostering professional growth.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  •  Bachelor’s degree: Communications, Public Relations, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of proven work experience as a Communications Director similar role, preferably in a growing organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with communications channels and tools.
  • Understand principles of copywriting, graphic design, layout and publishing
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and social media marketing
  • Impeccable copywriting and copy editing abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to convey complex messages in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Demonstrated success in creating and implementing employee engagement initiatives.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and levels with the organization.
  • Analytical skills to assess the impact and effectiveness of internal communications strategies.
  • Leadership and mentorship capabilities, promoting a positive and collaborative team culture.
  • Passion for creating a positive and inclusive workplace environment.
