WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Public Health Research Specialist will manage data, maintain databases and oversee studies and operations to support medical research. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD

  • Monitor pre-clinical and clinical operations to include data collections by processing data and coordinating data preparation activities to prepare for policy decisions, submissions to regulatory agencies, and peer review publications.
  • Help with communication and marketing strategy on our health equity programs Help with data collections by processing data and coordinating data preparation activities to prepare for strategic decisions, share with foundations and other non-profits, and peer review publications.
  • Oversee advanced clinical/scientific studies by designing experimental protocols to satisfy a medical need or increase patient safety and ensure compliance.
  • Receive and process scientific data from study groups and outside investigators, assess quality of data analysis and oversee data preparation, management, reporting and compliance activities.
  • Serve as technical consultant to clinical monitoring, research project teams, and government regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor and interpret results of clinical investigations in preparation for new drug or device application.
  • Analyze unified databases to run statistical estimates and tests (e.g. maintain listings, tabulations, and graphical summaries).

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Education: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Immunology, Microbiology or related scientific required.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Management Experience: N/A

Skills & Abilities: Ability to work on a team.

Travel: Some travel may be required.

*Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

The salary range for this position is $70,000-$85,000

Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role

Physical Requirements

The duties are representative of the essential functions of the position. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Ability to use a personal computer and applicable software for sustained periods of time. Exposure levels are based on the essential functions as stated in this position description; however, in some instances, variances may occur due to the applicable nature of this position within a particular work site. Therefore the work site may determine the exposure level to be greater than or less than the below stated level. This position is an exposure determination 2 in view of the fact that the position requires the incumbent work under conditions where the potential exists for the incumbent to make contact with blood or blood components as a result of splashes, spills, and/or needlesticks. Potential exists to also be exposed to hazardous chemicals.
