American Modern Insurance Group is recruiting for an Accounting Process Improvement Lead to join our team! We are looking for a candidate who has accounting or internal audit experience, who understands Statutory Accounting and IFRS processes and controls and likes to create efficiencies. This position is hybrid and will be in the office 40-50% of the time in Amelia, OH.
As the Lead, you will evaluate the effectiveness of controls, facilitate the annual risk and control assessment process (ORCS), research technical topics, and develop white papers to address accounting issues. You will identify, escalate, and ensure resolution of important and complex business control issues and roadblocks related to ongoing accounting and financial reporting activities. You will use technical and insurance industry knowledge to help develop accounting processes and provide financial analysis to support main accounting interpretation decisions related to the use of this new guidance or change in business circumstances.

• Participate on Accounting Transformation process improvement projects, bringing knowledge of accounting and reporting requirements and controls to the project teams, ensuring consideration is given to reporting timelines, operational considerations and change management.
• Document and articulate positions on accounting topics conclusions, and meaningful recommendations in meetings with management, auditees, external auditors, or other partners.
• Lead group discussions on control execution and documentation as part of the quarterly close process, offer suggestions on quality improvement.

Profile:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• 5 years or more of accounting, internal audit, or financial statement audit experience
• 3 years or more of insurance industry experience
• CPA Certification preferred
• Previous experience with control design, and familiarity with quality control concepts, control monitoring, and evaluation of reporting risks, audit management, and project management experience
• Data Analytics –Basic understanding
