Essential Functions:
1. Support the philosophy and vision of American Leadership Academy
2. Facilitate the intellectual and professional development of teachers with a focus on improving student achievement
3. Create positive relationships with teachers and administrators
4. Communicate and demonstrate researched-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance
5. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned
6. Provide individualized classroom-based coaching with teachers to support them in implementing effective instructional practices
7. Provide non-evaluative feedback to teachers based on observed classroom practice
8. Provide support in analyzing student assessment data and assist teachers with instructional decisions based on assessment data when appropriate
10. Assist teachers with specific classroom strategies when appropriate
11. Provide support for classroom engagement and management
12. Assist teachers in using curriculum and materials that are aligned with the Utah Core Curriculum
13. Model effective, differentiated instruction when appropriate
14. Manage time and schedule flexibility to maximize teacher schedules and learning
15. Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals
16. Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers
17. Participate fully in professional development for instructional coaches, including peer observations, professional research and reading, and inquiry sessions
18. Assist teachers in aligning teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum, and assessments
19. Work collaboratively and collegially with other instructional coaches, curriculum specialists, and district specialists
20. Working knowledge of Excel, Google Sheets, and Mastery Connect
21. Able to create data protocols, and understands how to aggregate and analyze data reports
22. Tech savvy - able to use research based interactive technology in a classroom
Required Knowledge and Skills:
1. Current teaching license
2. Master’s degree from an accredited college/university.
3. Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience.
4. Instructional Coach Endorsement (Preferred)
5. Demonstrated knowledge of Utah Core Standards
6. Experience in research-based instructional practices
7. Knowledge and experience in:
a) Classroom instruction
b) Instructional coaching
c) Adult learning theory
d) Organizational change
8. Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for building an environment with a common instructional focus, promoting initiatives, and conveying expectations
9. Ability to design and deliver quality professional development
10. Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing
11. Demonstrated strength in organization, efficiency, and communication skills
12. Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team
13. Demonstrated interest in professional learning, growth, and reflection
Working Environment:
Note: Instructional Coaches are not school administrators and will not evaluate nor supervise employees.
