American Indian Child Resource Center is Hiring a Case Manager/Youth Advocate Near Oakland, CA

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate After-School Program Case Manager to work primarily with middle and high school Native American youth in Oakland, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individualized support, advocacy, and resources to empower Native American students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Under supervision of the Indian Education Center Director, provide in-person visits to schools with the explicit purpose of supporting AICRC/AICRC-eligible youth in need. Maintained detailed records of case management sessions. Provide supplementary academic support for middle/high school youth via tutoring. Plan, organize and facilitate cultural enrichment workshops for middle/high school youth. Provide daily transportation to youth participants.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized case plans for Native American students, addressing academic, social and emotional needs.
  • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to students, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and community resources to coordinate services and support for students.
  • Advocate for the unique needs and cultural considerations of Native American students within Oakland Unified School District.
  • Facilitate group workshops and activities focused on topics such as cultural identity, leadership development, and college and career readiness.
  • Monitor student progress and outcomes, adjusting interventions as needed to ensure student success.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records, documentation, and reporting as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, education, Native American studies, or a related field
  • Experience working with Native American youth and families, preferably in an educational or community-based setting
  • Knowledge of Native American culture, traditions, and historical trauma, with a commitment to culturally responsive practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students and families.
  • Experience developing and implementing individualized case plans and interventions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including school personnel, community organizations, and tribal entities.
  • Demonstrate commitment to social justice, equity, and advocacy for underserved populations
  • Possession of a valid CA driver's license required.
  • Clearance from DMV and AICRC Insurance Carrier
  • Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System.
  • Participate in required preventative medical and medical monitoring programs which will include TB screening.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $54,000.00 per year
