American Heart Association is Hiring an Intern, Development & Community Events Near Savannah, GA

The American Heart Association works every minute of every day to spread lifesaving knowledge and fund groundbreaking research for heart disease and stroke. The CSRA and Southern Coast Chapter of the American Heart Association is looking for a Special Event Intern. The CSRA and Southern Coast has four major events each year: the CSRA Heart Ball, CSRA Heart Walk, Southern Coast Heart Ball and the Southern Coast Go Red for Women Luncheon.

The American Heart Association will offer an internship for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. Individuals will obtain practical experience and receive hands-on training in various disciplines including: fundraising/sales, database management, event planning, and communications. This will be a work from home opportunity, except for in-person event attendance, with weekly check-ins with our Executive Director The Association offers many resources to help you maintain work-life harmonization through your changing needs and life situations. To help you be successful, you will have access to Heart U, our award-winning corporate university, as well as training and support locally and through our National Center.

Internship Overview:

  • Time Commitment: 25 hours per week
  • Internship Duration: 1/16/24 - 5/3/24
  • Intern must be based in Savannah, GA; Augusta, GA; or immediate surrounding area
  • Salary: $23.00 per hour

Internship Outcomes:

Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to:

  • Gain important and practical job skills to be successful in a non-profit environment
  • Opportunity to explore a career-path with a reputable voluntary health/service organization
  • Gain experience in the professional world while learning about board management
  • Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others

Responsibilities

  • Event planning and logistics
  • Assistance in contacting businesses for participation in events and donations
  • Assistance with developing event materials.
  • Event communications (i.e. newsletters, emails)
  • Volunteer Management
  • Database management assistance
  • Office support
  • Auction management

Qualifications

  • Creativity
  • Strong phone skills and computer skills, including Canva and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to accurately enter important data
  • Strong time management skills
  • Excellent organizational and listening skills
  • Excellent oral, written and electronic communication
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Marketing or sales background is a plus
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Availability of 20-25 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
