Job Title: Health and Safety Manager Department: Administration / Health and Safety

Position Summary

The Safety Manager will exemplify personal responsibility by taking a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating safety risks and ensuring compliance with MSHA regulations. Their accountability drives the implementation of effective safety measures and protocols.

Effective safety communication is paramount to AGC's operations. The Safety Manager will ensure that safety guidelines, protocols, and procedures are communicated clearly to all employees. They will foster an environment where concerns can be raised openly and respectfully.

Safety is at the core of AGC's operations, and the Safety Manager will champion excellence in safety practices. By continuously evaluating and improving safety programs, training, and policies, they will uphold AGC's commitment to safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Safety Manager at American Gilsonite Company (AGC) assumes a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees and stakeholders. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Safety Program Development: Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs that comply with regulations and reflect best practices.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential safety hazards and risks, developing strategies to minimize their impact on employees and operations.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs to ensure employees understand and adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Incident Management: Own and Oversee incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action implementation. Analyze incident trends to prevent future occurrences.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with safety regulations and standards, ensuring AGC's compliance and advocating for a culture of continuous improvement. Act as advisor to AGC on MSHA regulatory compliance by ensuring a thorough familiarity with 30 CFR 46,47,48,56,57,58, 62 and 75.
  • Emergency Response Planning: Develop and maintain emergency response plans, perform employee training to ensure the organization is well-prepared for various safety-related scenarios.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders to drive a culture of safety and maintain alignment with industry standards.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Develop program to collect and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement and communicate insights to management. Use data based understanding to guide senior management on strategic direction of organization.
