SUMMARY

Provide out-patient counseling to Veterans and their families with Telehealth. The Counselor will utilize a standardized assessment tool to collect clinical information at intake, at completion and include a post–exit survey. The counselor will also work with NVOP case managers to assist in the client’s housing and employment needs. Generate secure and categorized client records in accordance with HIPAA. Provide reports and monitor trends that will promote future funding, expansion, and improvements to the mental health program.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide out-patient counseling to Veterans and their families with evidence-based therapies.
  • Responsible for conducting mental health intake, assessments, developing an individualized treatment plan, and scheduling appointments for the plan.
  • Responsible for providing courses of treatment with CBT, CPT, and PE therapies.
  • Accountable for running classes, workshops, groups, making treatment referrals to community resources and leading therapy sessions outside of traditional business hours and on weekends.
  • The Counselor will utilize a standardized assessment tool to collect clinical information at intake, at completion and include a post–exit survey.
  • The counselor will also work with NVOP case managers to assist in the client’s housing and employment needs.
  • Responsible for generating secure and categorized client records in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Accountable for providing reports and monitor trends that will promote future funding, expansion and improvements to the mental health program.
  • The employee must establish a plan of action to market the program services, deliver numerous presentations aimed at the specific target group of veteran families and be responsible for achieving the enrollments essential to the program success and to target veterans most in need of these services.
  • Travel will be required for outreach activities and will obligate the employee to use their privately owned vehicle. The program will provide reimbursement for business mileage incurred on official duty. The employee may on occasions also be required to drive company vehicles to perform outreach activities.
  • This position will be accountable for accomplishing specific and measurable enrollment goals each month.
  • Confidentiality of client information, donors, team members and the AGIF-NVOP. Such information is to be disclosed on a need-to-know basis only.
  • Responsible for being sensitive to the needs of program participants and must always treat clients with respect and professional care.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a Master’s or PhD. Degree in Social Work, or Professional Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy or Psychology.
  • Have full Clinical license for independent practice in the State of Texas (LCSW, LPC, LPC-A, LMFT or LMFT-A) with 3-5 years’ work experience in mental health settings preferred.
  • Minimum: counselor Associate status.
  • Candidates with documented experience working with veterans or themselves a veteran or veteran spouse preferred.
  • Candidates must be willing to attend periodic training as required by the position.
  • Must carry professional liability insurance.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Must have a current Texas driver’s license at all times.
  • Must always have applicable automobile liability insurance.
  • Must pass drug testing and background check.
  • All personnel of the organization must be bondable.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Typing
  • Computer literacy and utilization of general office equipment (scanner, fax, etc.).
  • Working knowledge with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
  • Professional and productive demeanor, as well as ensuring that actions are supportive of others.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to speak before groups when necessary.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions in coordination with service objectives.

TRAVEL

Primarily local during business day although some out-of-area travel may be expected via airline or automobile based on the discretion of management.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • constantly sit, listen/hear clients
  • frequently utilize close and distant vision, drive, talk
  • occasionally lift up to 25lbs., walk, bend at waist, balance, reach over shoulder, stoop, and push/pull

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will conduct office work, meet with clientele, and team members, and at times travel offsite to conduct business. Employee may be exposed to varying weather conditions. Employee will also be required to work in varied environments based on assigned caseload. Employee will be able to handle and de-escalate situations that may arise while at work.

SALARY

$50,400 LCW-A, LPC-A or LMFT-A (5% merit increase at successful completion of 6-month probationary period)

$63,000 LCSW, LPC or LMFT (5% merit increase at successful completion of 6-month probationary period)
