American Fire Sprinkler Association, Inc is Hiring an Event Coordinator Near Richardson, TX

Event Coordinator

The American Fire Sprinkler Association has an open position for an Event Coordinator. This Coordinator is a position within the Meetings & Events Department to meet growing demand in the Meetings & Events Department and will report to the Manager of Meetings & Events support activities during our quarterly meetings, all educational seminars and annual convention. The position requires a highly motivated, highly organized multi-tasker.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Meetings & Events: Provide support to Manager of Meetings & Events for off-site quarterly committee and Board of Director meetings. Assist in the coordination of scheduling, hotels, food and beverage and other tasks as needed.
  • Convention: Provide support to Manager of Meetings & Events for off-site annual convention including but not limited to the assistance in the coordination of scheduling, hotels, food and beverage and other tasks as needed.
  • Convention Competition: Coordinate competition event marketing, competition event testing, competitor travel, competition post event details,
  • Seminars: Provide member support as primary contact for all seminar requests including registration, invoices when needed, certificates, CEUs, course approvals as well as work with training sponsors, marketing team and Technical Service team for logistics on pre and post events. Manage Seminar calendars.

POSITION QUALIFICATION:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associate Degree (optional)

Experience:

A minimum of three years of work experience providing administrative support in an office environment is required.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Foremost, candidate must possess a strong customer appreciation orientation, recognizing the importance of association member service.
  • Must demonstrate strong, effective, interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), spelling, and grammar.
  • Must have the ability to operate general office equipment (copier/scanner, postage machine, printers, etc.). A working knowledge of Mac computers is a plus.
  • Experience maintaining a database system is essential.

  • Candidate must possess strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to demonstrate high-level multitasking skills.
  • A strong focus on timely attention to detail is essential.
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to be resourceful, proactive and seek assistance as needed.
  • The ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to changing priorities is essential.
