JOB DESCRIPTION

Project Leader

The Project Leader is responsible for supervising all field related activities and day-to-day operations, providing necessary training and tools to field crews and holding them accountable to completing jobs within budgeted labor hours and ensure safety is maintained at all times.

PROJECT LEADER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactively manage the quality of work performed in the field; intervene as required to ensure quality control standards are met.
  • Consistently complete projects within budgeted labor hours.
  • Maintain proper crew mix and scheduling with AFPG’s customers.
  • Manage needs of the field, ensuring tools, stock, vehicles and equipment are in proper quantity and condition.
  • Set goals for field teams and ensure their development from new-hires to foremen. As you progress in your career, seek to train your replacement.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships. Up-sell the full array of AFPG, Inc. services, especially those outside of your department.
  • Travel as required to job sites, or as directed by your department leader.
  • Enforce contractual starting and quitting times, including lunch and break periods.
  • Work proactively to plan tool, equipment and material deliveries with foremen.
  • Monitor delays or work stoppages; promote immediate reporting from foremen regarding issues on job sites.
  • Ensure that all AFPG workers respect the customer’s property, dispose of trash properly and are aware of their surroundings to avoid property damage.
  • Understand, follow and enforce all customer, APi Group and AFPG, Inc. safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Obey all safe, reasonable and legitimate leadership directives.
  • Reviewing service field quotes and coordinating with Contractors/Owners to gather the required information to the scope of work sold.
  • Maintaining customer relationships.
  • Coordinating with other departments within office to ensure all scopes of work being completed.
  • Creating stock lists for all materials required throughout the projects then getting price quotes, material ordering and delivery coordination.
  • Assisting field team thorough use of analytical thinking and problem solving, determining construction feasibility and systems possibilities.

PROJECT LEADER EXPECTATIONS

Knowledge

  • Excellent understanding of project mobilization.
  • Superior knowledge of project schedules and labor forecasting.
  • Clear understanding of all employees’ current skills and abilities and leverages those to increase profitability.
  • Knowledge of proper tool and equipment needs.

Planning

  • Monitor job productivity and implement methods to promote cost control.
  • Proactively manage field operating costs; including staff, vehicles, tools, equipment, etc.
  • Provide accurate projections of labor and costs for service jobs.
  • Assist sales team to help achieve accurate labor and equipment estimates.

Problem Solving

  • Proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues (internally and externally).
  • Stay positive and encourages strong morale, including empowering others to do their best.
  • Motivate staff members through appropriate recognition and encouragement.
  • Remove obstacles to ensure success of team.

Safety

  • Conduct at least 4 safety audits per month.
  • Maintain proper safety conditions and training for field crews.
  • Ensure all required licenses and certifications are in place and up-to-date.
  • Ensure the field has all necessary manufacturers’ training / certifications for equipment and materials.
