  • Assist with the monthly financial reporting, analysis and presentations to management.
  • Responsible for oversight, management and direction of American Fidelity Assurance Company’s Account Reconciliations and its general ledger accounts and maintenance.
  • Providing leadership expertise to team members for various financial reporting processes, to aid in the establishment and maintenance of AFA’s accounting principles, practices and procedures for the preparation of its financial reports for AFA Divisions in accordance with SAP accounting principles.
  • Drive continuous improvement, automation, and streamlining processes to achieve desirable close to reporting goals as well as providing enhanced analytics to business partners.
  • Review financial analysis for Controller, department heads and/or executive management as needed to ascertain that results are explained and understood. This analysis would include all information regarding month, quarter and annual financial results on AFA, all SBUs, and all regions, states and products with SBUs, as well as interpretations and reports on accounting and regulatory changes as such pertain to AFA/SBU’s. Serve as subject matter expert to those responsible for the design and development of Divisional Reporting Components in PeopleSoft ledger system. Coaches other team leads on fundamentals of division reporting, calculation and the Scores and other reporting needs.
  • Lead and champion the Statutory and GAAP Account Reconciliation process across AFA.
  • Assist with all reporting deliverables including annual statements, audited financial statements and GAAP statements. This includes preparation of certain deliverables and review of other deliverables.
  • Drive continuous improvement, automation, and streamlining processes.
  • Assist with education efforts on financial results and measures to improve Colleague understanding of financial results by developing tools and participating in education sessions on various financial topics.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree From Four-Year College or University Accounting area of study required. • Insurance industry related accounting/financial experience with at least 5 – 7 years experience in supervisory/management positions.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills including outstanding interpersonal and consultative skills.
  • Ability to work in pressure situations.
  • Excellent PC skills including Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook.
  • Results driven.
  • Ability to handle multiple task and teams.
  • Self directed individual with excellent planning, organization and project oriented skills.
  • Some time periods of extensive overtime.
  • Flexibility in scheduling workload and ability to manage toward successful accomplishment of goals within deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including outstanding interpersonal and consultative skills.
  • Demonstration of a high level of administrative competence and excellence in analyzing organization procedures and maximum efficiency.
  • Excellent knowledge of statutory and GAAP accounting principles.

• Strong management, leadership and decision making skills. • Strong analytical skills required.

  • Project management skills.
  • Experience in public accounting would be considered a plus, but not required.
  • Must be able to effectively manage small to medium staff of Managerial, technical and clerical positions.
  • Must be comfortable leading teams with staff at a higher level with the account reconciliation as your over arching principle.
