American Felt & Filter Co. is Hiring a Quality Control Technician Near New Windsor, NY

Job Overview:

AFFCO is seeking a full time Quality Control (QC) Technician to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet quality standards through inspection and testing procedures.

Responsibilities:

- Perform quality inspections on incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to verify product specifications
- Conduct data collection and analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions
- Conduct quality audits to ensure compliance with company standards
- Assist in the development and implementation of QA/QC procedures
- Fabricate and analyze samples to determine quality characteristics

- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment including tracking logs

- Collect regular samples for shelf life and analysis at the laboratory

- Recommend modifications to already existing production standards within the limits of available equipment capacity and capability

  • Monitor every stage of production to avoid product defects; if defects are detected, report such to Production Supervisor/Management
  • Work with the management and production managers to ensure that only quality products are produced
  • Approve all finished products by confirming specifications and conducting required tests
  • Approve finished products for onward shipment to customers
  • Ensure that wastes are minimized; and that there is improved productivity during production
  • Assist in developing and updating procedures, instructions, and test methods
  • Provide support in solving process problems and customer complaints
  • Encourage and enforce cleanliness on the part of the staff and ensure safe working conditions
  • Participate in company safety and other training programs
  • Maintain all documentation for the purpose of auditing
  • Participate in company wide effort to promote quality assurance in compliance with ISO 9001
  • Maintain a general knowledge of ISO 9001 and OSHA requirements.
  • Work with the Production Supervisor regarding specific information relating to product information and production
  • Assist in proper assessment of suppliers

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Must be a self-starter, well organized and detail oriented
  • Good verbal and written communications and mathematic skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data accurately
  • Experience in quality control standards in a manufacturing environment

- Well experienced with computers and spreadsheets, Microsoft Office

- Proven experience in quality inspection and control processes
- Familiarity with quality assurance practices
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments like micrometers and calipers
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate findings clearly
