The Global Treasury Controllership (GTC) team is part of the American Express Global Controllership Organization. GTC plays a significant role in the financial reporting processes for the Company’s cash, debt and equity issuances, securities and financing transactions, investments, and derivatives aimed at managing and hedging risk exposure. Additionally, GTC provides financial instrument valuation services and performs middle office trade support functions for Global Treasury.

This Analyst role is within the Global Treasury Advisory and Valuation team of GTC and is responsible for performing periodic valuation activities and preparing reports and supporting analyses for use by Senior Management and External/Regulatory Reporting. The Analyst should also expect to support key initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing periodic valuation activities in time constraint and control environment, performing various analysis based on fair value changes, supporting the development to enhance the company’s current valuation tools, and supporting various business partners on valuation related queries.
  • Perform price verification for company’s investment portfolio, 401k and define pension plan.
  • Perform valuation for company’s various fixed income products (i.e., Long term debt) and Card Member receivables and Loan products
  • Build successful relationships with business partners (e.g., Treasury, External Reporting, Market Controllers)
  • Additional responsibilities include participation in special projects, creating and updating SOP’s and desk instructions (DIs) and supporting PwC audit.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years experience in Accounting and/or Finance - Big 4 experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of US GAAP. Understanding of ASC 820 is a plus.
  • Possess abilities to challenge the status quo and apply a process-improvement mindset
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication, prioritization, and organizational skills required
  • Experience in Treasury/Treasury Controllership and/or knowledge of capital markets a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required

$55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
