Concrete Mixer Truck Driver
Duties
· Concrete truck drivers drive concrete mixer trucks to and from various job sites as directed by the project foreman, or supervisor. They operate the truck to mix and pour concrete and load and unload product as needed. Concrete truck drivers also complete daily vehicle inspections, reports and mileage logs as well as clean and perform simple routine maintenance on the truck.
Education and Licensing
· In general, concrete truck drivers require at least a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED). In addition, they must have a current Class A or Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) and clean personal driving record. Many concrete truck drivers must also pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical as well as drug tests..
Required Knowledge
· Concrete truck drivers need knowledge of DOT and CDL regulations as well as construction site safety including concrete material handling and basic equipment maintenance. Knowledge of construction vehicle safety concepts such as vehicle and road weight capacities are also necessary.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
· Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements. Functions essential to this position include but are not limited to standing, sitting, stooping, bending, walking, and lifting heavy objects (50 pounds) during the workday; must be able to pass a physical, human performance evaluation, and drug screen.
Must be at least 21 years of age and have reliable transportation.
