Job Title: Service Project Manager II

Reports to: Service Manager

Department: Service

Job Classification: Exempt

Direct Reports: N/A

Position Summary:

Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of crane projects ensuring goals are met. This includes responsibility for the delivery, installation management and coordination of all field support for a large variety of crane and hoist projects. Field Project Management for commercial projects and nuclear projects is expected depending on. Interface with the customer, engineering, purchasing, production/manufacturing, quality assurance, and vendors. Extensive domestic and international travel may be required.

Education:

  • Associates Degree in Technical Field; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Technical Education combined with field crane experience with a focus on cleanroom crane operations and maintenance

Skills:

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Computer literate using Microsoft Office Products, with a proficiency using Excel, Work, and Project.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced office setting
  • Proven ability to cope with conflict, stress and crisis situations
  • Self-starter and team player
  • Ability to influence, negotiate and gain commitment at all organization levels
  • Possess high professional ethics, good judgment, and ability to take decisive action
  • Strong operational and project management skills; strong organizational skills with attention to detail

Experience:

  • 2 years of service industry experience working in cleanroom application
  • Solid understanding of engineering technical issues/needs, financial, sales, and marketing as related to project management

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the delivery, installation, commissioning and ACECO and /or Subcontractor site service and maintenance for a variety of crane projects. This includes repair, inspection, and maintenance scheduling. 
  • Review all project documentation including all correspondence with the customer (prior to and after contact), contract specifications and drawings, proposal, estimate, purchase order and American Crane order write-up.
  • Outline project issues and concerns and conduct meetings with appropriate personnel to discuss solutions. Schedule project meetings to discuss project status, work with engineering staff on technical issues.
  • Generate submittal schedules per project requirements; coordinate schedules with various departments; work closely with Engineering to monitor Progress of customer submittals.
  • Communicate with the customer for input on project issues, submit specification deviations and exceptions to the customer.
  • Review project requirements with production managers and other personnel; support production in meetings project requirement; assist in resolving fabrication issues.
  • Establish engineering requirements for the project consistent with the specification; develop an estimate of engineering hours needed for completion. Review requirements with engineering staff to confirm hours are sufficient for completion.
  •  Work with Purchasing Agent to ensure pricing and delivery are consistent with estimate and project requirements as well as tracking the status of material and address purchasing related issues (i.e. material substitutions, delivery, etc.)
  • Review project requirements with Quality Assurance department personnel; provide support in meeting project requirements.
  • Support vendors in meeting project requirements; ensure communications are in written form.
  • Communicate with the client on project issues including technical issues, scheduling, etc. Ensure communications with the client are in written form.
  •  Work with all departments to make sure invoice milestones are met on time. 
  • Review Labor and Material hours for “Time and Material Invoices” and assemble invoice package for review with customer in accordance with contract requirements. Manage budgets and track invoicing schedules to ensure project funding.
  •  Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work a minimum of full-time hours; overtime required based on Service Department schedules
  • Hand/eye coordination is necessary to operate computer mouse, computer keyboard, stapler
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to touch; reach with hands and arms; grasp with fingers
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear; smell
  • Ability to lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

Work Environment:

  • Ability to work in outside weather conditions
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and vibration
