What this Position Does:

The Controller will be responsible for managing the accounting operations of multiple real estate properties and leading the accounting department.

The Day-to-Day Responsibilities This Person will be Overseeing:

  • Lead and support the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, property accountants, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll and other related functions.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures: implement and manage a system of controls over accounting transitions to minimize risk.
  • Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure with a proactive approach to unusual occurrences; Handle complex employee issues confidentially and fairly; Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and openness to new ideas and procedures
  • Manage all company credit card systems including users, payments, reconciliations, etc.
  • Ensure the completion of timely and accurate month end closing process.
  • Produce the annual budgets and forecast required reporting.
  • Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Prepare and file quarterly and annual reports for entities and ownership.
  • Miscellaneous duties as required.
  • Ensure a professional appearance and manner for oneself and all personnel at all times.
  • Strong leadership, management and people skills.

What Education and/or Experience You Will Bring to the Table: Bachelor’s Degree required and three to five years’ related experience and 3 years in a leadership or management role.

Computer Skills and/or Office Equipment Knowledge: Word processing, Yardi, proficient in Excel and Word; ability to use calculator, copy machine, fax machine, telephone, key machine.

Communication Skills Involved with the Position: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customer, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Analytical Abilities this Person Will Bring to the Table : Ability to make and implement decisions under conditions of risk and or uncertainty.
