Payroll/Benefits/Accounting Associate - ON SITE in Ottawa, IL

American Commercial Bank & Trust is currently seeking meticulous and detailed candidates for our Payroll/Benefits/Accounting Assistant position. This position is based out of our Main Office in Ottawa, IL. The ideal candidate must have prior payroll and accounting experience. This role will entail partnering with the VP of HR and the Accounting Department in the successful and accurate processing of a bi-weekly payroll, helping staff with payroll and benefit questions, review, and processing of benefit billing statement, and assisting the Accounting Department with postings, reconciliations, and other tasks.

Key job duties and responsibilities include the following:

· Involved in all phases of payroll processing, including timesheet review and corrections, input of payroll and HR changes to PR/HR system, review of pre-process reports to ensure accuracy prior to submission of payroll.

· Pull post-submission payroll reports, balance payroll and post to GL, review and process retirement plan deferrals, and file payroll documentation.

· Respond in a timely and accurate manner to emails and calls from employees with payroll, timesheet, and benefit inquiries; research and problem-solve in a helpful and positive manner.

· Review all benefit billing statements for accuracy, work with benefit broker consultant on updates and corrections to employee coverage.

· Work jointly with accounting staff on reconciliations and clearings, GL posting and other related tasks.

· Assist in documenting procedures for payroll and benefits processing activities.

· Gather and prepare documentation and reports as requested by auditors and examiners for HR and Accounting Departments.

· Assist in building online records in PR/HR system, exploring greater potential uses of the system, and helping to better use automation and less reliance on manual systems of recordkeeping.

Education and Experience

· Associate degree with a concentration in business, finance, or other related area; bachelor’s degree a strong plus.

· 2 years of experience in payroll and accounting. Banking industry experience is not specifically required by highly desirable.

· Solid knowledge of laws and rules which impact payroll and employment.

· Prior experience with HRIS/PR system such as iSolved, Paylocity, or similar is highly desirable.

Skills and Abilities:

· Keen attention to detail and accuracy, with a strong ability to both process and review payroll, benefit, and accounting work.

· Strong sense of internal customer service, with a focus on responsiveness, accuracy and building trust with colleagues.

· Strong reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; ability to be resourceful to research and find supporting materials and documentation.

· Strong verbal, written and interpersonal relationship skills.

· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

· Ability to organize/prioritize work, handle workload independently and meet critical deadlines.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
