American College Of Cardiology Foundation is Hiring an International Chapter Program Associate Near Washington, DC

The International Programs Manager will be responsible for the successful implementation of multiple programmatic activities identified within the ACC’s international strategy to improve heart health and cardiovascular care for patients around the world. Core functions include the strategic and operational implementation of engagement activities at the College’s regional conferences, annual scientific sessions of major global cardiovascular organizations, and convening workforce and leadership development opportunities for global members in the U.S.

This position is based in Washington, DC where we have a hybrid work environment (roughly 40% of the time in the office). 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively contribute to the culture of ACC being a global organization, expanding collaboration with our 42 international chapters through education and quality improvement initiatives
  • Design, create, and produce leadership development activities, leveraging philanthropic gifts from major donors (Hani Najm Global Scholar Awards; Wael Almahmeed Dedication to Young Scholars).
  • Responsible for the FIT Jeopardy competition with the international Chapters working with the Assembly of International Governors workgroups to ensure engagement across the world.
  • Directly manages GHATI (Global Heart Attack Treatment Initiative) including strategy development, budgeting, creation of metrics and overall program management
  • Provide operational expertise for the delivery of high-quality and high-performing presence on the international stage.
  • Manages chapter support and involvement in the ACC’s three international regional conferences in Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, including successful promotion of the conference throughout the region and active participation of the ACC’s international chapters
  • Works closely with other members of the international affairs team to ensure alignment with all global activities
  • Works with the ACC’s membership councils to better engage international members and counterparts within other societies
  • Collaborates across the organization to create a global mindset amongst all staff

Required Qualifications:

  • Deep commitment to ACC international mission engaging members and non-members in the College’s mission
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Affairs, Public Health, or related field.
  • 5 years’ experience in program management with international NGO setting, including relationship development with stakeholders from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
  • Excellent public speaking in a variety of settings, such as member events and presentations to College’s major donors
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all assignments. Ability to work under pressure to meet rigid deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong administrative management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proactively seeks information to accomplish all tasks.
  • Superb cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills with a high-level of proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as web-based applications such as SharePoint
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
  • Ability to travel internationally on occasion (approximately 1-2 times a year).
  • Interest in global health issues.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in one or multiple foreign languages, preferably Spanish.
  • Experience working in a professional association.
  • Experience working on global health issues.
