Location: Fernley, Nevada

Overview

American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) is an industry-leading battery metals and critical materials technology development and commercialization company. We are seeking to hire an experienced Pilot Plant Manager to lead the commissioning, operations, and continual improvements to our first-of-kind lithium-ion battery recycling facility.

Role Summary

As our Pilot Plant Manager, this candidate will lead and operate all facets of the implementation and operations of our proprietary lithium-ion battery recycling processes. This candidate will work closely with our executive officers, our engineering organization, and a team of external experts to ensure the successful operations of this facility. Our pilot plant in Fernley, Nevada will be the first integrated implementation of our multi-step processing train for the full mechanical processing, physical separations, chemical extractions, and production of commercial-scale battery metals that will be resold back into the battery manufacturing supply chain to enact a low-cost, low-environmental impact, and domestically sourced closed-loop circular economy. This position will report to the Chief Operations Officer.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be familiar with the design, installation, commissioning, and operations of first-of-kind facilities. This candidate should be passionate about implementing and maintaining efficient manufacturing processes, ensuring quality control of outputs, identifying equipment maintenance and replacement needs, crafting and deploying safety and monitoring protocols, and managing a high-performance factory workforce. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver and have a keen interest in scaling processes proven at the bench-scale up to pilot- or pre-commercial scales. This should include a constant focus on evaluating current processing steps and proposing and developing next-generation solutions in order to continuously improve system performance and operability.

Responsibilities for Plant Manager

* Take ownership of achieving facility performance, quality, and safety benchmarks as defined by the executive team

* Contribute to the design, commissioning, and improvement of both research and pilot level equipment in partnership with our Product Development Team

* Work with a team of Research Scientists and R&D Operators on the Pilot Team in research, enabling pilot-scale scale-up success

* Direct and coordinate daily operations of the manufacturing plant

* Execute production runs, experiments, commercial program support, and characterization efforts

* Daily dedication to Company Goals, GMPs, KPIs, and Safety Standards

* Define and document operational practices, ensuring documentation accurately reflects operational requirements

* Screen, interview, and manage the onboarding process of new hires

* Leverage process/product CAPEX and OPEX cost modeling to guide project prioritization and scale-up recommendation s

Qualifications for Plant Manager

* Experience building out, commissioning, and/or operating a first-of kind R&D and/or pilot facility in the chemical refining, manufacturing, or mining industries

* Fundamental knowledge of the commissioning and initial startup SOPs of processing equipment

* Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings

* Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for operating plants

* Experience with root cause analysis, DFMEAs, HAZOPs, and troubleshooting operational issues

* Experience developing, enacting, and instituting plant safety procedures

* BS / MS in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering, or related field, with 5 years experience in operations
