American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida is Hiring a Lead Financial Systems Accounting Analyst Near New York, NY

Assurant has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Financial Systems Accounting Analyst! Overview of Position Assurant is sponsoring a multi-year, multi-phase financial systems and process transformation; the Accounting Automation team is seeking to add a key finance and accounting transformation resource to the team that will be implementing the Accounting Automation components of a broader financial system architecture. This role will necessitate a combination of skills in accounting, reporting, transformation, technology, business analyst, and project management. This individual will use their prior accounting/auditing skills, technology knowledge, and insurance experience to implement key accounting functions/processes in a new accounting Subledger, ERP General Ledger, and Datamart. Initially, the individual in this role will be providing functional and financial process support to the implementation of the new platform and best practice processes. In the future, this role will then assume responsibility for the ongoing support and enhancement of the accounting subledger, with a focus on continuously identifying, recommending, and executing on opportunities to better streamline and gain efficiencies in the Finance function through leveraging the investment we have made in a new systems platform. What will be my responsibilities for this position? Strategic: Participate in and effectively collaborate with the team in efforts on behalf of Finance, Accounting, and Reporting to identify, propose, design, and implement best practice automated accounting processes in a leading cloud ERP solution to reduce reliance on manual processes. Help to identify, recommend, and execute on opportunities to enhance existing automated accounting entry generation taking into consideration the requirements of the overall Global Finance organization. Support efforts to educate business process owners on solution optimization, simplification, and standardization capabilities within the new platform through the reference of prior experiences and other relevant use cases. Tactical: Work closely and collaborate with key Finance, Accounting, and Reporting stakeholders, team members, IT, and third-party consulting resources across various locations to test, implement, and support a global financial systems platform. Work with stakeholders to understand functional requirements and determine how to best implement them in the new financial systems architecture. Ensure functional requirements and process solutions are understandable and communicated to overall program teams. Develop creative solutions to effectively meet complex business requirements using delivered optimum functionality. Develop and maintain documentation of processes and procedures. Ensure program deliverables are completed in accordance with established timelines. Support communication and training activities associated with areas of responsibility. Escalate issues and open items to workstream lead, as appropriate. Effectively collaborate with other team members, key resources, and stakeholders. What are the requirements needed for this position? Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent area of study. A minimum of 5 years' prior accounting/auditing experience; combined with finance transformation experience preferred. Knowledge of general ledger and accounting principles; understanding of U.S. GAAP Financial Reporting Processes. Working knowledge of core insurance financial reporting concepts such as earnings, DAC, IBNR, and an understanding of multiple bases of accounting (e.g., U.S. statutory, local regulatory, tax, IFRS) in a multi-book ledger environment. Knowledge and understanding of Account Reconciliations and preparation of Financial Analysis reports Experience in designing and implementing Finance and Accounting processes and workflows. Proficiency with Microsoft Tools such as Word, Excel, Access, Visio, and PowerPoint Advanced experience with Power Query, Power Pivot, and Excel Macros. Experience with M Code and Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) a plus. Strong data management, analysis, and problem-solving skills. Experience in leveraging technology to improve finance processes and supporting technology initiatives from a finance perspective (Finance Transformation). Experience handling and effectively prioritizing multiple concurrent tasks and meeting strict deadlines. Experience in working in a team environment and establishing collaborative relationships with different stakeholders. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization and establish relationships. Strong planning and organizational skills. What other skills/experience would be helpful to have? CPA, MBA, or Actuarial certification preferred Experience with and understanding of the flow of information from various policy/business admin systems to the general ledger Understanding of the Financial Planning & Analysis function Knowledge of working with various currencies across multiple legal entities Experience with mapping of data from source systems to a General Ledger COA and redesign Experience supporting technology initiatives from a Finance and Accounting perspective. Prior experience working with and/or implementing automated accounting entries (generation and mapping) in a complex, global organization Working knowledge of preparing and running SQL Queries Experience with reporting tools pulling data dimensions from multiple tables and views such as Power BI. #LI-Remote #AssurantProudMS Pay Range: $100,800.00 - $168,400.00 Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
