Responsibilities

Full Time Schedule is 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and includes every other weekend

The Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible for providing the highest possible patient care through dispensing quality medications as prescribed by a physician. 

• Accurately filly physician medication orders under the direction of the Pharmacist.
• Properly deliver narcotics in accordance with Massachusetts State Law, as well as stock medications, to each unit
• Familiarity with Automated Medication Dispensing Machines (Pyxis experience)
• Load and unload medications from AMD
• Practices within the scope of certification.
• Receives outside vendor medications and medical supplies per hospital procedures and stores in proper areas.
• Reclaims medications from discharged patients and returns to the AMD or Pharmacy.
• Pulls outdated medications and prepares them for return.
• Maintains AMD with accurate medication at appropriate levels to meet the needs of the Hospital. 
• Competent in the use of computers.
• Performs clerical duties as instructed.
• Demonstrates conduct in keeping with American Addiction Center ethical standards and Code of Conduct.
• Demonstrates professionalism and commitment to Teamwork at all times.
• Attends all mandatory in-services, safety training and annual trainings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have experience using Pyxis.
• Completion of a board approved pharmacy technician training program.
• Preferred some form of college credits
• Completed board approved training program or have completed a minimum of 500 hours of employment as a pharmacy technician trainee or medication administration program.
• Passed board approved Pharmacy Technician Assessment Examination administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or pharmacy employer, current or in one year.
