American Academy of Ped is Hiring a Social Media Content Specialist Near Washington, DC

 

TITLE: Social Media Content Specialist (GF)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Social Media Strategist 

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

Produce parent-friendly and engaging content for American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and HealthyChildren.org social media accounts and execute social media campaigns. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Draft social media content for posts, coordinate with graphic design and video production colleagues as needed to include multimedia content, support social media events, and engage online audiences in public awareness campaigns.

2.Engage with parent and pediatrician influencers to support communications priorities and campaigns.

3.Analyze and create reports on HealthyChildren social media and text message performance metrics and adjust strategies accordingly. 

4.Collaborate closely with relevant AAP staff to ensure all HealthyChildren social media communications are aligned with HealthyChildren business goals and objectives, as well as other AAP communications priorities. 

5.Ensure compliance with brand voice and tone across all HealthyChildren social media platforms.

6.Stay up-to-date with social media trends, algorithms, and best practices and recommend opportunities for enhancement to social media activities.

7.Support HealthyChildren paid social media/digital marketing and advertising campaigns and budgets, by managing paid advertisement campaigns and developing content and digital ads for marketing efforts.

8.Perform all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in communications, digital marketing, journalism, or a related field or n equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.

EXPERIENCE:

At least one year of related experience contributing to social media platforms required, including the development, execution, and analysis of social media content and use of tools and platforms to track and assess social media efficacy. PR firm experience a plus.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

Must be an exceptional writer with strong attention to detail and the ability to draft clear and concise social media content. Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office, mastery of core social media platforms, and the ability to learn and apply new and trending platforms; experience with virtual meeting platforms (e.g., WebEx Teams) preferred. Must be a creative, strategic thinker able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, respond quickly to time-sensitive matters, take initiative, work both independently and as part of a team, collaborative effectively with various internal and external constituents, and promote and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment, with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Excellent project management, organizational, diplomacy, interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking skills required. Some travel and evening/weekend work required.

Hybrid work environment of 40% of work time in the office per month.
