AMERICA MEDIC & SCIENCE - Accountant

PURPOSE

The Accountant is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accountant is responsible for managing the financial team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

§ Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.

§ Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.

§ Ensures the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.

§ Assists in the daily banking requirements.

§ Ensures the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions.

§ Ensures the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.

§ Supports budget and forecasting activities.

§ Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

§ Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.

§ Responds to inquiries from the CEO regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.

§ Works closely with the CEO to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.

§ Supervises the general ledger activities to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.

§ Assists in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.

§ Provides training to new and existing staff as needed.

§ Works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.

• Familiar with NetSuite system

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education BA/BS in Accounting or related Business field with an emphasis in Accounting.

Technical Skills and Prior Experience Two to three years prior experience in the financial reporting/general ledger areas. Experience with web-based accounting (Amazon, eBay, etc.). Experience with tax return preparation and filing. Experience with multi-state sales and use taxes.

Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast -pace, growing company setting. Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Access and Word.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge of NetSuite system is preferable.

Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.

Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
