Amergis is Hiring a School Psychologist Near San Jose, CA

Amergis Staffing is looking for a few School Psychologists in San Jose, CA. for the 24/25 school year. This will be an ongoing need for school years to come, if the SP wishes to stay. The School Psych will work on a team of special education professionals and will be at one location. The hours will follow the school calendar be 37.5-40 hours per week.

The School Psychologist works to support students through a variety of mental health and developmental issues and aid in qualifying students for additional support services. The School Psychologist is responsible for providing on-site psychological services to students under the jurisdiction of the state and district.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Completes multi-factored evaluations (initial and re-evaluations) in compliance with state regulations within a designated time frame

Conducts pre-referral consultation/intervention.

Monitors students response to curriculum modifications

Serves as an instructional intervention specialist who plans intervention and individual education

Performs Psycho-educational assessments

Consults individually, or in groups, with students and/or parents or other personnel on matters relating to the education and mental health of the students to ensure the development and provision of the most appropriate education program

Participates in on-going training/in-servicing related job duties.

Consults with teachers and other team members on an ongoing basis

Serves as a technical assistant for the support of implementation of RTI in the assigned schools (if applicable)

Conducts an evaluation of each student assigned which shall include, but not limited to:

Conducting pre-diagnostic meetings in order to determine scope and sequence of needed evaluations

Interviewing the student o Observing classroom behaviors

Consulting the students parents and teacher(s)

Reviewing the students academic history and current educational functioning

Conducts psycho-educational evaluations of the childs learning process and level of educational achievement

Administers specialized evaluations specific to the nature of the childs problems

Conducts Functional Behavior Analysis for student, if required

Helps create Behavior Intervention Plan for student, if required (consultation with team members required)

Attends pre-referral and screening team meetings in buildings assigned

Enters information regarding the psycho-educational evaluation on CRT at least 24 hours prior to the extended IEP team meeting (as applicable per client/state requirement)

Participates in the extended IEP team meetings and other such procedures as necessary, including manifestation determination review meetings

As part of the team, determines the nature of a childs problems through a full case study evaluation

Attends PAEC meetings, completing psychological evaluation reports, and scheduling/chairing prediagnostic meetings (PDMs)

Participates in other duties based on the needs of students and programs. These may include teacher in-service, counseling, screening of students (preschool, etc.), parent groups, supervision of interns, research of ongoing programs, and development of new programs

Maintains client information in a secure and confidential manner consistent with client and local procedures, as well as guidelines set forth by the State and State Board of Psychology

Minimum Requirements:

Must maintain current State licensures and/or certifications in state of assignment

Experience in pediatric and adolescent population is preferred

Masters degree in psychology preferred

Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable

Current CPR if applicable

TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

Computer proficiency required

Must be at least 18 years of age
