Responsibilities:

  • As a Controls Technician, you will be building, configuring, commissioning, and providing support for data acquisition and control systems used in Energy Management and Distributed Energy systems.
  • You should possess good working knowledge of software, electronic technology, and networking.
  • The technologies you will support include utility meters, wireless metering, data acquisition, monitoring and control technologies used to display and manage energy usage and renewable energy generation.
  • Most importantly, the solutions you will support are intended to have a positive social and environmental impact and include: Building Performance, Solar PV, Energy Management, Demand Response, Wind Generation, Battery Storage, Electric Vehicle Charging and Biomass Generators.
  • Assemble and configure data acquisition panels for use in solar PV monitoring, building submetering and other similar projects;
  • Specify components to be included in custom manufactured data acquisition systems;
  • Inspect, configure, and test 3rd party equipment for use in data acquisition systems;
  • Integrate data acquisition systems with Building Automation Systems;
  • Provide remote commissioning support for data acquisition systems at installation time;
  • Provide commissioning verification checklists to the project manager upon completion of commissioning;
  • Provide ongoing technical support for all systems;
  • Schedule may be first or second shift as conditions dictate; and
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED supplemented by specialized course work or equivalent training and experience.

  • Minimum 1 year experience with automation systems, HVAC, electrical and energy concepts, building operations, programming, databases, networking, data analytics, and commissioning will be considered an asset.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience with Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, BACnet, or OPC

  • Proficiency in Visio

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products

  • Outstanding communications and documentation skills

  • Skills to perform work within generally defined parameters.
