The Maintenance Manager manages contract functional areas, including but not limited to aviation, combat and automotive, weapons and munitions, counter terrorism, development, and test engineering management support to the Mission Test Support Services (MTSS) contract in support of USAYPG.
This mission critical position is the focal point of the Developmental Testing for the U.S. Army and other DoD customers, other U.S. Government agencies, foreign governments, and private industry in natural environment testing on nearly every piece of equipment in the ground combat arsenal in desert, cold weather, and tropical environments.
This position is incumbent upon contract award
Job Duties
Requires in-depth understanding of the requirements of Army weapons systems test programs.
Must be able to communicate effectively with USAYPG and test customer on test scenario, instrumentation systems, data acquisition and processing
Must understand and document effective operational directives to ensure adequacy of test design and safety/quality parameters
Must be knowledgeable of contract requirements and be thoroughly familiar with maintenance publications
Keep Program Manager up to date on all maintenance department actions and make recommendations to ensure its efficient operation
Schedule daily/weekly/monthly meetings as necessary with functional managers for the successful accomplishment of all maintenance actions
Analyze maintenance data to ensure the efficient management of the maintenance effort
Ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly required reports and maintenance CDRLs are submitted
Ensure maintenance instructions are issued as required to define maintenance procedures not outlined in available technical data or for requirements specified in government directives.
Evaluate existing methods and/or systems and potential improvements for compliance with maintenance requirements and cost effectiveness
Must be able to workday shift, night shift or weekend duty and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team or detachment as required
Qualifications (Required; Desired)
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)/related field or management/related field
Desired: Advanced degree in STEM/related field or management/related field
Experience
Seven years within a test organization at one of the U.S. Army Development Test Commands Test Centers (e.g., Yuma Proving Ground, Electronic Proving Ground, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Dugway Proving Ground), which provided comprehensive knowledge of DoD test, test management, and test documentation procedures
Five years of direct management experience leading a team (>75) of personnel in a remote environment
Experience managing dispersed workforce and diverse functions in support of large-scale DoD efforts
Ten years total maintenance experience
Worked in sensitive/secure work environments while upholding the integrity of their families, company, and country
Worked in remote environments and high risk areas
Performed or managed work on complex, multi-disciplinary contracts
Mobilized project offices, hiring and training subcontractors to work to stringent safety standards
Secret Clearance – US Citizenship is required to possess a government clearance
Working Conditions: Work is partially in an office environment, and walking, stooping, bending, climbing stairs, stretching, and lifting (up to 20 pounds) is required. Frequent travel to contract work sites at remote locations is required. The Maintenance Manager must be acclimatized to extreme desert temperatures and environment. The Maintenance Manager may be required to represent the company and/or USAYPG at national conferences and workshops.
Location is Yuma, Arizona.
