AMDA is Hiring a LA Deputy Title IX and Student Access Specialist Near Los Angeles, CA

AMDA College of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York City and Hollywood, is one of the foremost post-secondary performing arts colleges in the country. AMDA offers various pathways for students to receive unparalleled performing arts education taught by world-class industry professionals, including Professional Conservatory Certificates as well as undergraduate and graduate degrees (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts, Associate of Occupational Studies, Master of Fine Arts and Master of Arts). 
The LA Deputy Title IX and Student Access Specialist assists with the day-to-day operational responsibilities associated with complaints of unlawful sex discrimination, including sexual misconduct, and harassment. This role will also support AMDA students with disabilities by ensuring that they have equal access to all of AMDA’s programs, services, activities, and facilities, and by assisting them in their transition to a postsecondary environment. 
Principal Accountabilities: 
  • Assists with the day-to-day responsibilities associated with the Title IX and Accessibility Services Offices, significantly focused on response, intake, and assessment 
  • Assists with administrative resolution processes, as assigned by the Title IX coordinator, involving matters that fall under the Institution’s Title IX/nondiscrimination policy.
  • Coordinates with appropriate Institution staff to implement any interim measures necessary for students, faculty, and staff involved in Title IX cases or accommodation requests.
  • Assesses disability documentation, including psychoeducational evaluations, IEPs/504 plans, and other information to verify disability according to University, State, and Federal guidelines, in order to determine reasonable and appropriate accommodations for students.
  • Communicates and collaborates with faculty and staff to coordinate approved accommodations and ensure that accommodations are being provided as written. Collaborates with the Director of Accessibility/ADA Coordinator to determine whether proposed accommodations conflict with technical and academic standards set by the institution.
  • Handles private and confidential information with the utmost discretion and sensitivity, including information from individuals who may have experienced trauma. 
  • Maintains a case management database to organize, manage, and track all complaints and accommodation requests. Ensures well-documented reporting and resolution processes, per Institution’s expectations for document retention and privacy.
  • Provides periodic, timely updates regarding the status of complaints received and investigations in progress to the Institution’s Title IX Coordinator and accommodation requests to the Director of Accessibility/ADA Coordinator.
  • Collaborates with on and off campus resources including law enforcement, victim services, and advocacy groups in resolving complaints and works with the Title IX Coordinator and the Director of Accessibility Services/ADA Coordinator to ensure that the Institution’s processes and responses are consistent with federal and state laws and regulations related to compliance.
  • Continuously identifies and integrates best practices regarding Title IX/nondiscrimination and accessibility into knowledge base and practice. 
  • Leads in establishing a presence for The Title IX Office at the Institution’s location in Los Angeles. 
  • Assists students with strategies to manage their transition to the postsecondary environment, makes referrals to on-campus and off-campus resources, and regularly follows up with students to provide them with consistent and ongoing support 
  • Participates in programming and outreach events, and serves on interdepartmental working groups and/or committees.
  • Manages and monitors the OEDI social media pages 
  • Other duties as assigned 
Minimum Qualifications:  
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of one year of experience in student affairs, multicultural services, Title IX, counseling, disability services, advising, or a related field
  • A working knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Title IX, as well as disability rights. Knowledge of federal nondiscrimination laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting issues affecting a diverse student population in higher education; experience collaborating and communicating with a wide range of constituencies (staff, students, faculty, parents, administrators) with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to manage multiple, on-going and complex caseloads of Title IX related incidents and complaints and accommodation requests.
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to work effectively within a diverse community.
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Experience analyzing data preferred.
  • Case management experience preferred.
  • Student Programming Experience, developing, organizing, budgeting and initiating on-campus programs preferred.
Position Information: 
  • This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check. 
  • The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $75,000.
  • This is a fully in person position.
