Job Description TITLE: SYSTEMS ENGINEER FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: PLANT ENGINEER BASIC FUNCITONS: Responsible for controls systems integration for specialized new production systems. Documents and extends functionality of the control systems of primary production systems. Links multiple process systems together. Implements process monitoring and product quality controls, including network integration and SCADA interface, on new and existing production systems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Link independent machine systems together to create intelligent, adaptive process flow paths. Integrate Process and Product Control monitoring devices into the production line network. Implement supervisory control systems in the Pilot Production Laboratory, specify full scale production systems, and support the installation and de-bugging of full scale systems. Provide coordination and leadership to Plant Engineers and Maintenance Specialists in Amcor manufacturing operations. Design and implement statistical process control extensions to primary machine control systems. Professionally document activities, maintains current project documentation, and fully informs team members and supervisors of activities. Direct the daily activities of electrical / controls technician(s). Participate in the generation of the Engineering Standards for Manufacturing. As a salaried exempt employee, assures all plant safety/accident prevention policies are adhered to as stated in the employee handbook. This includes maintaining a safe work environment and safe work practices, accident investigation when necessary, and ensuring any outside contractors adhere to Amcor policies and procedures in safety QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Skills/Experience Required Demonstrated ability to design and de-bug programmable logic controls. Basic understanding of injection molding and stretch blow molding processes is required. Good working knowledge of performance measurement and monitoring methods is required. Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods, statistics theory, and DoE, is required. Experience managing multiple high priority projects is required. Education Required: Bachelors’ Degree in Electronic, Controls, Chemical, Mechanical or Packaging Engineering is required Experience Required: Background in machine controls theory, including Digital Electronics Engineering, TCP-IP Network Protocols, and SCADA. Systems Integration is required. Demonstrated ability to design and de-bug programmable logic controls. Basic understanding of injection molding and stretch blow molding processes is required Good working knowledge of performance measurement and monitoring methods is required. Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods, statistics theory, and DoE, is required. Experience managing multiple high priority projects is required SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES: NONE AUTHORIZATION Ability to shut down any machine if it poses an imminent danger to employee’s health and/or safety. Ability to shut down any machine because of a quality problem so suspect material can be contained. Ability to shut down any if it is down three items in one hour for the same mechanical problem. Authority to contact any staff or management team member with concerns, questions or suggestions pertaining to their job or work environment. Initiate Corrective Actions for violations of Company policies. Recommend hiring, termination and promotions of subordinates. Approve expenditures up to pre-determined amount identified by corporate guidelines without prior approval of Department Manager.
