Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION: Material Handler Job Summary To be considered a qualified candidate for this position, an individual must have the ability to qualify in the specific responsibilities, essential functions and training requirements of the Injection Machine Operator I position. Requires a complete and strong understanding of the Injection material handling system. Resin Handler employees are responsible for all aspects of safe machine operation in the area of assigned responsibility. This requires the ability to understand and follow basic good manufacturing practices and guidelines, the ability to recognize, correct, and prevent quality problems, and the ability to troubleshoot all aspects of the resin handling system. Reporting Relationship Supply Chain Operations Manager Specific Responsibilities 1. Follow all GMP and HACCP guidelines. 2. Complete all documents as required by Amcor standard operating procedures, work instructions and form control documents. 3. Verify all loaders are on and are working correctly; also verify all sight glasses are full on all hoppers. 4. Daily obtain silo resin readings, maintain status of empty railcars and communicate all information to the Materials Department. 5. Inventory regrind and ensures there is ample supply to keep all designated machines running continuously. 6. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance as scheduled for filters, central vac’s, hoppers, and all other equipment as scheduled. 7. Ensure all resin lines are hooked up properly to appropriate silo, day tank, and machine hopper. 8. Conduct all required Quality Assurance testing. 9. Maintain railcar records (including COA’s, seal information & integrity, vehicle inspection logs, control plans, rail spur sheets, shift log, resin inventory and resin tracking logs.) 10. Complete daily clean-up assignments and adequately maintain good housekeeping throughout the entire area of responsibility. 11. Follows all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Amcor “No Injuries Safety Contract” and as trained. Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and Supervisors. Properly uses all required personal protective equipment. 12. Performs other related duties as directed by the Supervisor to insure the smooth and orderly operation of finished product movement in the area assigned. 13. Perform preventive maintenance on slide gates, airlocks, blenders, metal-out units 14. Troubleshoot resin system using loader computer system (FACS) and basic troubleshooting skills based on knowledge of system 15. Replace fuses in resin room equipment and wire in level sensors and other minor electrical pieces of equipment 16. Perform minor maintenance on sprockets and chains as well as rein system piping 17. Work with maintenance team to ensure all systems are operating correctly and efficiently Essential Functions 1. JOB DESCRIPTION: Resin Handler - Page 2 Authorization • Those employees with authorized training, can shut down / stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee’s health and safety • Recommend stopping production for unacceptable quality • Recommend Staff quarantine out-of-specification products, materials or supplies • Contact any member of Management without fear of reprisal concerning questions, suggestions, or complaints regarding quality, working conditions or job environment WORK ENVIRONMENT Job is performed in dusty environment (PET dust) near moving mechanical parts and frequently in high, precarious places. Safety glasses are required to be worn. The noise level is loud, requiring hearing protection to be worn. GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant. Job Specifications and Requirements 1. Education and Experience: a. High school diploma or equivalent preferred b. Completed all requirements of Injection Machine Operator I. 2. Physical Requirements: This is a heavy physical demand job a. Employees are required to work outside in all types of weather. b. Employees are required to work outside at elevated heights exceeding 40’ with fall restraint personal protective equipment. c. Employees are required to work indoors at elevated heights of 10’ or more with fall restraint personal protective equipment. d. Employees are required to occasionally operate aerial lifts. e. Employees are required to be certified and able to operate forklifts. f. Lift / push / pull up to 1000 pounds 50 feet using a hydraulic hand jack (this is the equivalent of a static push / pull of approximately 70 pounds). g. Maximum frequent lifting weight of 50 pounds from ground to 6 feet overhead. h. Rare frequency of lifting up to 100 pounds from ground to 6 feet overhead. i. Maximum frequent carrying weight of 60 pounds for 10 feet. j. Employees are required to stand / walk on a concrete floor. k. Employees must be able to work/stand 12-hour shifts day or nights, including weekends and holidays. l. Employees are required to push, pull, bend; turn / twist; kneel; squat; crawl; climb; reach out and up; turn wrist; grasp; pinch; and have finger manipulations. 3. Required Safety Equipment: a. Employees are required to continuously wear hearing and eye protection, as well as protective clothing including steel toe shoes. b. Employees are required to wear fall restraint personal protective equipment. c. Employees are required to wear hard hats when necessary. 4. Environmental Factors: a. Continuous noise of 85dB b. Occasional noise exposure in excess of 100dB c. Frequent exposure to chemicals d. Occasional exposure to dust / fumes / gas 5. Other Requirements: a. Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values. This includes entering information into an on-line database accurately. b. Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions / judgement calls based on the situation at hand. c.
