Job DescriptionLocation: Ames, Iowa
Job Title: Machine Operator I
Grade: Hourly
Shift: Nights, 6:45pm - 7:00am
Schedule: 4 days on, 4 days off
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Operates machines, such as presses in molding area, according to machine (product) standard.
  • Works at different workstations as production needs require.
  • Works on the line where tasks vary, as parts of various sizes and shapes move along the line.
  • Check all finished parts for any possible defects (including grease, flash, punctures, and other defects).
  • Packs all parts which are of good quality into boxes, in preparation for sealing and shipping.
  • Notifies Lead Person, Mold Technician and/or Production Supervisor whenever items produced do not meet quality requirements, or if machinery need repair.
  • Wears all required personal protective equipment.
  • Assists in the training of new operators as needed.
  • Maintains housekeeping of work areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and color vision.
Key RequirementsRequires high school diploma or equivalent.
Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in plastics, preferred.
Ability to work all shifts and required overtime.
