Job Description SUMMARY Responsible for all aspects of safe machine operation in area of assigned responsibility including movement of finished product. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The Machine Operator has the responsibility to successfully complete the position training program found in the plant training manual. The Machine Operator has the authority to shut down production equipment to prevent the production of defective product. Has the authority to place Non-Conforming Product on Hold. Randomly check parts produced every hour, to ensure that customer specifications are met. Places parts in specified relationship to each other. Monitors flow of parts into assembling machinery, secondary equipment and storage containers. Tends machines, such as blow molders and labelers which perform in the blow molding area, according to machine (product) standard. Works at different work stations as production needs require. Works on line where tasks vary, as parts of various sizes and shapes move along the line. Check all finished parts for any possible defects (including grease, flash, punctures, and other defects). Completes daily report of parts produced, scrap parts and downtime which resulted. Notifies Lead Person, Mold Technician and/or Production Supervisor whenever items produced do not meet quality requirements, or if machinery need repair. Uses calculator to arrive at accurate calculations of different production-related data when necessary. Wears all required personal protective equipment. Maintains housekeeping of work areas. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None QUALIFICATIONS Requires strong understanding of blow molding process and the ability to understand basic good manufacturing practices and guidelines. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES Certificate and training in safe forklift operation are required. SAFETY Must attend all required Safety/OSHA training classes. Must adhere to all Safety Rules as posted in employee handbook and in the plant.
