Ambulatory Surgery Center Of Western New York Operations LLC is Hiring a Surgical Tech Near Amherst, NY

Summary: Performs scrub duties according to established standards and assists in other related tasks by performing the following duties in a fast paced environment

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assembles supplies and assists in the set-up of the surgical suite for the procedure.
  • Prepares and assists with procedures utilizing sterile technique.
  • Prepares the tables and mayo stand with proper instruments and supplies for the specific procedure.
  • Ensures all necessary equipment is in the operating room, and ready for use, prior to start of procedure.
  • Assists in the preparation and draping of the patient.
  • Actively participates in the time out procedures.
  • Follows the progress of each procedure and assists the physician by anticipating his/her needs by skillfully passing instruments, sutures, and related items.
  • Examines instrumentation and equipment for accurate count, breakage or deterioration.
  • Obtains and prepares the specimens as required.
  • Assists with dressing applications.
  • Assists with timely and efficient turn over of operating rooms.
  • Remains alert to and practices the principles of aseptic techniques.
  • Participates in the economical use of supplies.
  • Participates in quality management initiatives.
  • Assists in procedure rooms area as required.
  • Maintains positive interrelationships with patients, physicians, and co-workers while performing job duties.
  • Attends and participates in programs to keep knowledge and certification current, if appropriate.
  • Pulls cases for future procedures.
  • Responsible to communicate case preference card information to circulator.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.


Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Graduate of approved Operating Room Technician school or holds a New York State Nursing License.


Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software.
