Compensation: $188,000-240k,000 per year. You are eligible to a Short-Term Incentive Plan with the target at 25% of your annual earnings, terms and conditions apply

Sr. Director, Software Engineering – Remote, USA

We are seeking an experienced Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead our dynamic teams focused on developing specialized end-user solutions for our physicians, patients and health system partners. As a key member of our leadership, you will play a crucial role in steering the development of innovative software solutions, adapted keenly to customer experience and workflow, while instilling in our teams best practices in cloud software development (Scaled Agile etc.) and maintaining rigorous design control.

Essential Functions

  • Leadership: Direct and inspire multiple software engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive software engineering roadmap aligned with the business goals of Ambry Genetics and Realm IDx.
  • Technical domain: Possess a deep understanding of front-end development technologies, back-end architecture design and cloud native services (i.e. AWS), so you can provide guidance and insight to teams.
  • Innovation: Drive innovation in software engineering, staying abreast of industry trends so you can integrate these cutting-edge technologies into our technology stack.
  • Architecture acumen: Architect and oversee implementation of scalable reference architecture for our systems, so they can be configurable to adapt to evolving needs of our customers.
  • Quality: Implement best practices for software development, code review, ensuring compliance with quality, security standards needed for medical device software.
  • Team development: Mentor, develop engineering talent, fostering continuous learning and career growth.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience contributing to a scalable architecture/design of existing and new systems that are highly available and easy to maintain and monitor.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining highly complex asynchronous messaging and backend processing jobs.
  • Practical experience and understanding of working with and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins) and test-driven development.
  • Experience with AWS services for building, testing, deploying, monitoring applications (CodePipeline, CloudWatch etc.) Falimiar with infrastructure as a code, such as Terraform
  • Experience with OOP in PHP and JavaScript
  • Experience with HTML/CSS development
  • Relational database experience (example: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Experience with NoSQL based technologies (example: MongoDB, ElasticSearch)
  • Ability to read and write a variety of structured/semi-structured formats (example: XML, JSON, CSV, TSV)
  • Experience with AGILE and SCRUM methodologies
  • 12 years of experience in professional software development
  • 8 years of management
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Preferred

  • Master's degree
  • Experience with SDLC and assembly of Design history File artifacts. CFR 21 part 11 and/or ISO13485 experience is a huge plus
  • Experience with NGS LIMS systems integration
  • Experience with frameworks such as Symfony v2.0 , AngularJS, ReactJS is a plus
