POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary function of the Assistant Director of Nursing is to assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, managing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Service Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern the facility. The Assistant Director of Nursing will work alongside the Director of Nursing with the Administrator and the Medical Director to ensure the highest degree of quality of care is maintained for each resident at all times. In addition, the Infection Preventionist (IP), along with Community leadership and the Medical Director, ensures that current standards of practice related to infection prevention and control are incorporated in resident care and employee actions. The primary purpose of the IP’s job is to oversee the planning, organization, development, direction, and evaluation of the infection prevention and control program throughout the Community in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations. Follows all health, sanitary and infection control policies and maintains established standards of practice set forth by the facility's administration and Nursing Policies and Procedures.
Education & Qualifications:
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a RN within the state in which you work, or licensed as a LPN if the state you operate in allows.
  • Must be able to communicate in English and have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Must possess and demonstrate the ability to carry out both verbal and written directions.
  • Must possess and demonstrate good interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with supervisors, co-workers and facility leadership in the performance of duties.
  • Ability to observe proper safety and sanitary techniques.
  • Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position/assignment.
  • Have completed (or complete within first week of hire) specialized training in infection prevention and control (ex. CDC’s infection and control modules or other qualified infection control education). Any additional state-specific training required for the position will be completed at the earliest available opportunity (ex. SPICE in North Carolina).Must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of others in the workplace.
  • Be qualified by education, training, experience, certification, or a combination of these.
Experience:
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role in a hospital, nursing facility or other related healthcare facility, preferably in long term care.
  • Possess experience teaching or training adult learners and have prior experience/training in Infection Prevention and Control processes.
