Infection Preventionist- RN Preferred
Job Summary: Assists the Director of Nursing to organizes and administer areas of Resident Care Services and infection prevention to attain person centered care and the facility's objectives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizes programs, policies and procedures in infection prevention and control Monitors that programs and procedures are developed to assess, evaluate, and meet the needs of the resident:
Implements standards of nursing practice in infection prevention reviewing and revising as necessary to reflect changes in nursing practice and resident population.
Responsible to assist with the provision of nursing services 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
Addresses and supports cultural practices if such practices do not harm others or interfere with the planned course of medical therapy.
Clear, concise, and current written policies and procedures are available to assist the staff and minimize risk factors infection prevention
Recommends modifications, additions, or deletions to nursing staffing plans to ensure reasonable hours and acceptable working conditions to provide optimal resident care coverage.
Initiates and participates in problem solving, policy forming conferences for resident care services. Maintains close coordination with all departments to ensure continuity and collaboration of services.
Performs all aspects of resident care in an environment that optimizes resident safety, infection prevention, and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Participates with the Director of Nurses and clinical leaders in the facility's decision-making process:
Plans and recommends to Director of Nurses equipment or modifications needed to provide resident care.
Serves as a member of professional staff committees in matters pertaining to resident care and national patient safety goals.
Participates in the assigned committees and departmental meetings. Participates in the antimicrobial surveillance program.
Over sees the Infection Control Committee
Tracks and trends Infections, antibiotic stewardship, hand hygiene, vaccinations (Influenza, Pneumococcal, and Covid),
Oversees the TB Exposure plan and Blood Born Pathogen Prevention
Plans and coordinates with the Director of Nurses, utilizing the respective service managers for planning the budgeting requirements for staff, performance of work, supplies and equipment.
Assist with implementing an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess and improve the quality of nursing care and infection control delivered to residents:
Participates in the nursing department's performance improvement program and supports the nursing department performance improvement program.
The results of each department's performance improvement activities are reported to the respective committees and to the facility wide performance improvement committee.
Assures that nursing leaders review monthly performance improvement compliance with established indicators and sees that corrective actions are taken when negative outcomes are identified in infection prevention and control.
Collaborates with facility leaders in developing, implementing, reviewing, revising, and monitoring facility wide performance improvement activities.
Under the DON direction, exercises authority over those associated with providing nursing care, treatment and services related to infection prevention
Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
Develops and implements nursing staffing plans for the organization related to infection prevention
Completes other duties as assigned.

Current license in MICHIGAN as a registered nurse
Certified in Infection Prevention
Minimum three (3) years prior experience in resident care services.
