The Amazon Robotics Global Edge Compute team owns a cutting-edge initiative at the forefront of Amazon's robotics and automation efforts. We are building a groundbreaking service to manage 1.5 million devices across 4,000 locations worldwide, enabling Amazon to revolutionize its logistics and fulfillment operations. As Senior Engineer in this role you will lead a team of engineers to design and implement an Infrastructure Automation and Validation Service - a modern, flexible, pre-production development service. This service will provide developers flexibility to recreate our entire service or any part for testing and development and enable our customers to validate new OS and software builds safely before releasing to production.
Key job responsibilities
- Architect and build a scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure automation and validation system using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and incorporate requirements into the system design.
- Develop and implement automated testing and validation frameworks to ensure system reliability and quality.
- Implement security best practices and adhere to compliance requirements for cloud services.
- Contribute to the team's continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for process optimization and implementing solutions.
- You will drive key engineering decisions that impact device management for Amazon fulfillment sites globally.

About the team
Our team is tight-knit and operates primarily out of Austin. We have a mix of experience levels, and work in a broad, collaborative space that has something for everyone. We care about the development of our engineers and are invested in helping each other attain our career goals.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Austin, TX, USA
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
