DESCRIPTION
Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
As a Senior Product Manager - Tech on the Project Kuiper team you will help create and drive the product strategy, vision, and roadmap for satellite products and services, with a high degree of ownership over critical features and the customer experience. This role is inherently cross-functional - you will work closely with engineering, design, operations, finance, and executive teams to envision, develop, and launch innovative products and services. A successful candidate will be both creative and highly technical, able to work extremely effectively in a matrix organization, and adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into products and applications that customers love. We are looking for someone customer obsessed and technology savvy – with a proven track record of creating successful wireless products and services. Project Kuiper’s success requires leaders who are owners, and who possess the entrepreneurial spirit needed to create new products. As a Sr. Product Manager - Tech, you will assume end-to-end product ownership over satellite products to deliver services to our customers.
Key job responsibilities
• Understand and synthesize satellite and mobile technology roadmap, identify key focus areas for product differentiation, lead internal feature planning discussions
• Understand and articulate customer needs, conduct on-going customer research, leverage internal knowledge and expertise, and prioritize feature requirements across consumer and enterprise
• Be a passionate advocate for the customer; provide the voice of the customer
• Write detailed PRFAQs, new feature product assessments, product requirements documents, define use cases and KPIs and drive tradeoff discussions and decisions with engineering, finance, product management, and business development
• Inspire the team with the product vision, and work cross-functionally to bring the product to life
• Create the business case. Determine the product and service cost, and release strategy for end-to-end satellite system
• Serve as the product expert assisting marketing with technical whitepapers and participating with business development in product and service discussions with customers

About the team
You will be joining a team that is focused on defining and driving the product requirements for all of the customer facing hardware, software and systems for Project Kuiper.
Our north star goal is to deploy products and services that customers love on Day 1 of their service; a lofty goal for most broadband service providers, but one that we can achieve by innovating from scratch and by collaborating with other Amazon teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical work experience plus an MBA or 4 years demonstrated business leadership experience
- 5 years of experience in product management, systems engineering, IC design or applications engineering
- 5 years of experience developing or managing complex wireless devices for satellite broadband or cellular
- 3 years of experience in the cellular industry with a detailed understanding of 3GPP timelines
- 2 years of experience with end-to-end product delivery
- 2 years of experience overseeing roadmap strategy and definition
- 2 years of experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs for a complex wireless communications product
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters/PhD in Wireless Communications Systems
- In-depth knowledge and working experience with device networking software stack and call flows including related protocols for cell acquisition, RACH, RRC, registration, mobility, and data session establishment
- Detailed understanding of global spectrum trends, RF banding requirements, wireless regulatory environment, and the convergence of satellite and terrestrial networks

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
