As the Sr. Manager Business Desk within AWS APO focused on deal construction and cloud economics, you will have the exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to programmatically scale Amazon’s cloud computing business via helping customers’ executive suite understand AWS’ cloud value framework, and streamlining the approach to crafting programmatic and custom deals.
Your responsibilities will include: providing thought leadership for two rapidly growing global practices (private pricing and cloud economics), defining standard and non-standard deal processes that the organization will follow, helping establish programmatic deal constructs that make sense for the business, and work collaboratively to build comprehensive deals, helping the organization execute on deal flow, and hiring and developing bar raising talents across the globe.

We are looking for a candidate that has a background in financial deal construction, knowledge of cloud value framework, business operations, sales, and a background that enables them to model terms that reflect the best interests of the customer and business. The candidate should also have some technical depth to help them reason about the technologies and services involved in a coherent way. The ability to be influential, and work cross-organizationally is a must, and the successful candidate will have a keen sense of ownership and drive. Executive presence and ability to present complex deal recommendations in a clear and concise manner to the AWS senior leadership team.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Serve as a key member of the Sales, Capture, Partner, and Business Development leadership teams, helping to define and execute on deal construction and execution strategy.
- Bring various stakeholders, including but not limited to, Contracts, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Security, and Compliance together to build repeatable, scalable and predictable process that meet aggregate needs.
- Work closely with and train the sales teams to make sure everyone is aware of the processes and constructs, and to quickly execute on deals that are in the pipeline.
- Build, analyze and report on monthly, quarterly, and annual pipeline metrics and business forecasts inclusive of Run Rate, Opportunity, and Contractual elements.
- Understand the business and technical requirements of our customers and partners, and work closely with the internal teams to fashion appropriate deal terms.
- Establish sustainable mechanisms to support AWS APO rhythm of the business to measure and track metrics related to deal making, and to make improvements to the approach based on those measurements.
- Assist with complex contract negotiations and manage the approval process, including liaising with involved internal groups such as Legal, Finance, etc.
- Partner with sales teams during strategic customer engagements to assess customer’s cloud TCO and long-term savings.
- Handle a high volume of engagements across the fast pace cloud computing market.
- Interlock with, and act as a team member of, the Commercial Business Practices team sharing best practices while jointly tackling barriers.
- Lead the talent management lifecycle for Business Desk team, leading hiring, performance assessment and management, compensation, resource planning, and coaching/mentoring efforts.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 10 years of building and leading large teams and working in matrixed operating structures experience
- Experience in complex financial deal construction
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience working and communicating with multiple stakeholders, C-level executives and cross functional teams or equivalent
- Experience in strategic thinking about business, enterprise software products, and new technology platforms and architectures or equivalent
- Experience establishing sustainable mechanisms to support rhythm of the business to measure and track metrics related to deal making while making improvements to the approach based on those measurements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5 years of managing and developing high performance teams experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $154,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $288,200/year in our highest geographic market.
