BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of engineering experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

We are are looking for a Software Development Manager to help build new initiatives for Delivery for the Speed team, and manage the innovation streams for this program. We are growing fast and pushing the boundaries on the fast delivery customer experience.
Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will:
* Define the strategy and roadmap for your team
* Hire and develop the industry’s best talent to build a strong and well-balanced team
* Work across the organization to deliver the best in-class delivery experience for our customers while balancing critical business objectives
* Build the next generation systems for representing delivery choices to allow rapid innovation in the area of User Experience
* Build software that easily extends to meet the high growth of Amazon's delivery business and capabilities
* Own and operate mission critical services that are highly reliable and highly low latency
* Influence Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence initiatives to select the best delivery speeds and options for customers.
A day in the life
You will lead in a fast-paced environment, guiding a team of smart software engineers to architect and develop the right technical solutions to meet the needs of the business. You will be in charge of the complete software development lifecycle: defining, prioritizing, designing, building, and testing new features. We care about both delighting customers and high quality software; we don’t sacrifice one for the other. We’re looking for someone with a demonstrated track record of hiring and leading teams of software development engineers to build and run highly-scalable, global software solutions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
