Our organization is implementing complex sortation, robotic interfaces, guided associate workflows, flow optimization engines, machine learning algorithms, and more to accelerate package delivery and generate savings for a billion dollar plus operating spend.
Our team owns a set of critical software services that are key to processing millions of packages a day and ensuring that Amazon can meet the customer delivery promise. And we are also breaking ground on a whole new set of software services aimed at further automating package sortation in some exciting ways. Our mission is to build the most efficient and optimal transportation system on the planet using our engineering muscle as our biggest advantage.
We are looking for Software Engineers with 2 years of solid software engineering experience involving solving complex problems to create & enhance our systems to capture the digital counterpart of the physical environment. Solving these problems range from creating scrappy prototypes to test out new ideas to creating highly scalable and performant systems used by 30,000 users globally. As a Software Development Engineer on the team you will take ownership over the software design, documentation, development, engineering approach, delivery and support of SortTech systems.

In this role you will:
- Write high-quality, efficient, testable code in Java and other object-oriented languages.
- Build highly available, secure, distributed systems in a microservices architecture.
- Collaborate with some of the best engineers in the industry to work on complex challenges in large-scale computing and find out what it takes to engineer systems for “Amazon Scale”
- Own and operate the systems that you build based on real-time customer data and demanding service-level agreements.
- Contribute and drive planning, design, implementation, testing, operations, and process improvement as a member of an Agile team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3 years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
