We are looking for a passionate, hard-working, and talented software engineer who have experience building innovative, mission critical, high volume applications that customers love. You will be part of a team who directly impact the design, architecture, and implementation of Alexa features that are used every day by people you know. We own and innovate on the Alexa Audio experience on Multimodal devices (those with display's)
The ideal candidate is clearly passionate about user experience, music and has a demonstrable track record of success in delivering new features and products. A commitment to team work, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating reliable, scalable, and high performance products requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems. Key job responsibilities
- Writing quality, reusable code for highly scalable, available and reliable cloud-based service
- Working with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility for building and operating large scalable multi-tiered distributed systems
- Working in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software against aggressive schedules.
A day in the life
You start by making yourself a cup of tea, coffee or beverage of your choice, catch up on some email and updates that came in over night and then join your team in our daily 15-minute standup.
After this, depending on the day, you take a look at your sprint board and features/epics/projects you own and decide how to move your project forward.
During the day you might meet with our colleagues in Product Management or UX design teams to walk through your use cases, have a huddle with your team on Slack to complete scoping and estimates or jump into a 1:1 with you manager to seek input and get support.
Outside of this we have a strong focus on personal development and you'll meet regularly your manager and mentor if you have one.
Each quarter we come together with our peer teams in Alexa Music to review our team roadmap, celebrate our wins, welcome new hires and get to know each other a little better.

Our focus has always been to create a good-looking Audio experience on MultiModal Alexa Devices (those with screens) and do this by partnering closely with our Product Manager colleagues.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
