  • 10 years of experience in hardware engineering, manufacturing or operations, throughout the product life cycle from concept to EOL
  • 7 years of experience leading technical teams
  • 5 years of experience in a supplier or manufacturing quality role in aerospace or other highly regulated industries
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA and FAI processes

Amazon’s Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
The Kuiper team is seeking a people-first, data-driven manager to lead its Supplier Quality Engineering group. We are looking for someone with a strong technical background in mechanical systems, including machined parts, electrical-mechanical systems, assemblies, optics, and harnesses. This individual will lead a team responsible for defining requirements and implementing processes to deliver aerospace quality at unprecedented scale. The ideal candidate has passion for building processes with excellent analytical abilities, technical skills, and effective written and verbal communication. Most importantly, we are seeking someone excited by the challenge of owning a supplier base responsible for producing high-quality, mission-critical hardware in volume production.
Key job responsibilities
  • Own and lead Kuiper supplier quality management activities for Mechanical Systems including requirements definition, qualification, production process validation, receiving/source inspection, CAPA, metrics reporting, and continuous improvement
  • Manage a technical team of highly talented supplier quality engineers and inspectors
  • Establish and monitor supplier mechanisms for production process control, non-conformance management and CAPA
  • Establish a data-driven mindset within your team using supplier quality metrics to run daily/weekly operating rhythms
  • Guide product development teams on supplier selection, assessment, audit and development decisions
  • Interface with Kuiper supply chain and manufacturing stakeholders on quality management processes and supplier performance metrics
  • Partner with manufacturing quality team to build a cohesive Kuiper Quality System in compliance with AS9100 & IS09001
  • Be a subject matter expert in the disciplines of aerospace quality management
  • Influence supplier selection and investment decisions to reduce risk and improve delivered quality
  • Present written narrative documents outlining team strategies and performance
  • Travel as needed to accomplish program objectives
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
A day in the life
The Kuiper Supplier Quality team is driven to develop a vendor base capable of scaling aerospace quality to new volume and cost levels in order to meet end customer needs. This position will lead the mechanical systems team at an exciting moment with the opportunity to own quality system processes, metrics and performance across a large supplier base. His role will build a team that values data driven decision making, comfort with ambiguity across multiple simultaneous projects, ability to earn the trust of our key stakeholders, and deliver results without sacrificing integrity.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $120,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $234,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
