Amazon.com is Hiring a Sustainability specialist Near Boston, MA

Amazon has co-founded and signed The Climate Pledge, a commitment to reach net zero carbon by 2040. This science-based goal is a multi-year carbon emissions reduction goal that is aligned with getting to carbon neutrality 10 years faster than the latest scientific guidance.

The ideal candidate will have industry experience conducting life cycle assessments (LCAs) of products and services, and detailed knowledge of manufacturing, design, development, and / or sourcing.

The candidate should be comfortable working with imperfect data, identifying sources of uncertainty, and finding public data to fill the gaps where needed.

The successful candidate must have strong analytical skills and the ability to apply systems thinking to complex, fast moving problems.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you be part of a centralized business operations and strategy team in Amazon Robotics. Your responsibilities will include :

  • Conducting Life-Cycle Assessments for all Amazon Robotics products and systems including modeling, data collection, data analysis, data visualization, and reporting
  • Establishing scalable mechanisms and tools for LCAs
  • Developing reports, dashboards and metrics which distill complex data into actionable insights to inform product and operations decisions
  • Being the Subject Matter Expert in product and supply chain sustainability assessments
  • Responding to time critical sustainability questions from multiple functional and business teams
  • Educating cross functional teams on sustainability

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD, or Master's degree and 4 years of quantitative field research experience
  • Experience investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products
  • Experience analyzing both experimental and observational data sets
  • Knowledge of product LCA and sustainable product design

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of R, MATLAB, Python or similar scripting language
  • 5 years conducting sustainability research and / or driving sustainability improvements
