We are looking for an exceptionally talented and driven individual to partner with scientists in Fulfillment by Amazon on cutting edge work in machine learning, optimization, econometrics, experimentation and market design which contribute billions of dollars to the business. The individual will be responsible for developing analytic solutions to drive deep dives and develop insights to support strategic decisions of leadership and developing advanced data pipelines that connect science models and production systems.
Key job responsibilities
Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) is a service that enables third-party sellers to outsource fulfillment to Amazon, and use Amazon’s world-class science and logistics infrastructure to fulfill customers world-wide with fast delivery promise. FBA Science team is looking for an experienced Business Analyst with strong business and data analytical skills to join our cross-domain group of data scientists, applied scientists, research scientists, and economists. This is a high-impact role with opportunities to develop analysis and support projects that contribute billions of dollars to the business. The work spans FBA and challenges that include 1) new initiatives in inventory, inbound, capacity, revenue, and workforce management, 2) improving the FBA sellers experience and the success of their business, 3) ensuring Amazon customers worldwide have access to the largest selection of products through FBA sellers, 4) driving out costs across end-to-end FBA supply chain, and 5) developing and testing new seller facing innovations. Our team members have an opportunity to be on the forefront of supply chain thought leadership by working on some of the most difficult problems in the industry with some of the best product managers, research scientists, statisticians, economists and software developers in the business.
The successful candidate will have relevant experience and proficiency in data analytics, working with large data sets, extracting and transforming data using various tools and technologies and building advanced data pipelines. They will be responsible for transforming data into actionable business insights, making it readily accessible and available for stakeholders worldwide. They will use data to support ideas, drive actionable outcomes, and identify unique ways to present complex information in an easy to consume format. They will be passionate about finding root causes, trends, and patterns and how they impact the business. They will draw inferences and conclusions, create dashboards and visualizations of processed data. They will have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work with leadership and product owners to understand key business questions and build reports that enable the organization to answer those questions quickly and accurately. They will be very comfortable juggling competing priorities, handling ambiguity and working in new domains and datasets. They will thrive in an agile, fast-paced environment on highly visible projects and initiatives.
A day in the life
As a Business Analyst, you will help develop analytic solutions to drive deep dives, provide insights into the health and state of the FBA business. You will transform data for the millions of unique products involving hundreds of thousands of Selling Partners and tens of millions of customers around the world into actionable business information, make it accessible to stakeholders worldwide. You will communicate complex ideas to leadership so they are easily understood. You will own the design, creation, and management of extremely large datasets. From Day 1, you will be challenged with a variety of tasks, ranging from creating datasets, reports, dashboards, metadata modeling, pipeline development and monitoring. You will interact with leadership, scientists, program and product owners, and technical teams to gather requirements, structure scalable data solutions, and gain a deep understanding of key datasets. You will design, implement and drive adoption of new analytic technologies and solutions and promote industry standard best practices. You will be responsible to tune query performance against large and complex data sets.

Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) is a service that allows sellers to outsource order fulfillment to Amazon, allowing sellers to leverage Amazon’s world-class facilities to provide customers Prime delivery promise. Sellers gain access to Prime members worldwide, see their sales lift, and are free to focus their time and resources on what they do best while Amazon manages fulfillment. Over the last several years, sellers have enjoyed strong business growth with FBA shipping more than half of all products offered by Amazon. FBA focuses on helping sellers with automating and optimizing the third-party supply chain. FBA sellers leverage Amazon’s expertise in machine learning, optimization, data analytics, econometrics, and market design to deliver the best inventory management experience to sellers. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $94,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
