AMARILLO COLLEGE is Hiring a Supplemental Instructor - LVN Clinicals Near Amarillo, TX

This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Supplemental Instructor - LVN Clinicals who will be all-in on our mission and who will manage students’ learning through individualized and small group instruction for students currently enrolled in the AC Nursing Program; supplement and reiterate course concepts presented in class to support struggling students.

EDUCATION

Required: Vocational Nursing Certificate with current Texas State License

Preferred: Associate’s Degree (or higher) in Nursing with Current Texas State License.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

Required: Unencumbered Texas State License

EXPERIENCE

Preferred: Teaching experience and experience tutoring students in a community college.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend scheduled sessions of courses as necessary to prepare for supplemental instruction.
  • Provide supplemental classroom instruction for the nursing department.
  • Perform effective teaching activities, directing projects and assisting with student coursework and research.
  • Plan, develop, and present organized instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.
  • Attend briefings on procedures, advising, registration, and general policy.
  • Complete appropriate administrative paperwork and performance evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with instructors and department professionals to provide scheduled embedded support in the development of individual students’ needs and progress.
  • Use a variety of instructional methods, materials, and techniques to address all learning styles and cultural differences.
  • Create learner-centered lessons with high engagement activities and effective retention practices.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service training as required or needed in order to maintain and improve professional development.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must understand and apply learner-centered and high impact instructional methods.
  • Must have skills in computer operation/multimedia classroom instructional software and be willing to learn new computer software.
  • Ability to work under stress, work independently and as a team member, and deal with students in a professional manner.
  • Must be knowledgeable of Microsoft Office products and virtual platforms to support student learning.
  • Ability to display a positive attitude when interacting with students, teaching assistants, administrators, staff and the public.
  • Possess strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to: multi-task; use different teaching strategies; simplify complex information.

Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules (actx.edu), Pay grade 10 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
