AM Communications, LTD is Hiring a Fiber Splicer Near Lexington, KY

We have immediate openings for Fiber Aerial Construction Linemen and Fiber Splicers. Linemen must know how to climb, set anchors, place strand, lash fiber, and operate a bucket truck. Splicers must have at least 6 months experience building enclosures. Experience with splitters is preferred but not mandatory. The ideal candidate has the ability to work effectlively with a team or independently. AM Communications offers a unique, paid on-the-job training programs for individuals with no Telecommunications experience. For consideration, applicants must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and with heights, have strong, working knowledge of hand tools, and have the willingness to learn a skilled trade in a fast-paced industry!

Essential Duties:

  • Read and interpret work orders, specifications, engineering drawings and/or cut sheets to determine work to be done in sequence of task.
  • Repair or splice in new line as needed to complete the testing and certification of the project.
  • Place and install required cable when necessary to compete assignment(s).
  • Install all passive and active devices (amplifiers, taps, splits), pedestals, and vaults and coax splice cases required to house CATV equipment per customer requirements.
  • Test RF lines for balanced signal between points-continuity and fault.
  • Read and understand site plans, maps, diagrams, designs, and prints needed to support project(s).
  • Pull cable through existing duct package, pull cable through conduit either manually, blowing, or mechanically, and splice and activate underground and aerial lines.
  • Splice in node splits to reduce capacity
  • Utilize RF Meters and TDR accurately
  • Ability to safely utilize bucket trucks or climb utility poles to place cables on poles per system design.
  • Close a project by completing production sheets, verifying proper levels after activation, and adjust and troubleshoot as necessary.
  • Ensure that all work considers the safety of the customer and public and compliance with all governmental orders,
  • Ensure proper safety techniques and incident reporting procedures are followed
  • Communicating with Local MSO Employees as a Representative of AM Communications
  • Other duties as required.
